National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) & Accreditation
Physicians Plus embraces the rigorous standards of NCQA Accreditation as our model for quality improvement. This Accreditation is the most comprehensive evaluation of health plans in the nation and is the only assessment program whose accreditation scores are based on results achieved in a set of clinical (HEDIS®) and consumer experience (CAHPS®) measures.
During the previous decade, Physicians Plus participated in the prestigious Wisconsin Forward Award and Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award programs, prized by health care and non-health care organizations across Wisconsin and the nation. We proudly achieved Mastery level through the Forward Award program and a Baldrige site visit. Moving forward, the tough standards of NCQA Accreditation will focus our programs and resources more acutely on efforts that directly touch the lives of our members.
Physicians Plus is undertaking the three-part Accreditation Survey this year, striving to achieve NCQA’s highest accreditation status of “Excellent” by meeting or exceeding their rigorous requirements for consumer protection and quality improvement. The process includes a comprehensive offsite NCQA review of our documentation, an onsite review of additional documentation by NCQA surveyors and an evaluation of our HEDIS® and CAHPS® results.
