Physicians Plus Has Commendable Accreditation from National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA)
Physicians Plus has Commendable Accreditation Status from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) in recognition of the organization meeting rigorous NCQA standards for consumer protection and quality improvement in the delivery of our health plan services (Commercial HMO/POS Combined).
NCQA accreditation is the most comprehensive evaluation of health plans in the nation and is the only assessment program whose accreditation scores are based on results achieved in a set of clinical (HEDIS®) and consumer experience (CAHPS®) measures. NCQA accreditation standards support continuous improvement in a health plan’s quality and value.
Quality health care is defined by NCQA as the extent to which patients get the care they need in a manner that most effectively protects or restores their health. Some examples include:
- Having timely access to care.
- Receiving treatment that medical evidence has found to be effective.
- Receiving appropriate preventive care.
NCQA is a private, not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving health care quality. Since its founding in 1990, NCQA has been a central figure in driving improvement throughout the health care system. NCQA has helped to build consensus around important health care quality issues by working with large employers, policymakers, doctors, patients and health plans to decide what’s important, how to measure it, and how to promote improvement.
