Get Out!

Get Out

GO! events such as the Polar Dash and Green & Gold Training Camp give kids 12 and under a chance to win great rewards, for getting outside and being active. It's part of our wellness plan for our community.

What is GO! Get Out?

The GO! Get Out Campaign was started by Physicians Plus in 2005 as a way to encourage families and children to lead more healthy and active lives. Held at fun Madison-area locales, the GO! Get Out events provide families with fun, health-focused activities, and gives incentives to combat the increasing rate of childhood obesity.Donald Driver at the Physicians Plus Green & Gold Training Camp

Health Care Insurance that Fights Obesity

Physicians Plus is a locally-owned health plan, and it's in our DNA to help our friends and neighbors. Encouraging local kids to lead active lives is one of the most important ways we can fight childhood obesity, and we're proud to lead this effort.

Why Get Out?

Polar Dash

  • The prevalence of children who are overweight or obese has more than tripled in the last 20 years, with now approximately 30% of children overweight and 15% obese.
  • Overweight children with at least one overweight or obese parent are reported to have a 79% likelihood of weight problems persisting into adulthood.
  • More than 30 medical conditions are associated with obesity, having a health care cost in the U.S. estimated to be $102.2 billion.

The Department of Health and Human Services recommends that children and adolescents participate in at least 60 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity most days of the week, preferably daily.
