Physicians Plus Announces New Leadership
CFO Mike Mohoney Named Insurance Company’s President and CEO
The Physicians Plus Insurance Corporation board of directors announced today that Mike Mohoney has been promoted, effective immediately, to company President and Chief Executive Officer. Mohoney has served as acting President and CEO since the retirement of his predecessor, Martin (Marty) Preizler, on January 31.
Jim Woodward, President and CEO of Meriter Health Services, majority owner of Physicians Plus, commented, “Mike Mohoney has proven his leadership and vision time-and-again during his Physicians Plus tenure. Granting Mike the responsibility to lead the organization forward was an easy decision for the board of directors.”
Madison-native Mohoney most recently served as Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer, a position he held since joining the organization in 1988. He also served as Acting President and CEO from 1993 to 1996.
An avid supporter of community youth athletic programs, Mohoney has served as a youth basketball and baseball coach at a variety of levels for the past 15 years.

Mohoney graduated in 1977 with a BBA in finance and accounting from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He was awarded his Certified Public Accountant license in 1981, and prior to his tenure at Physicians Plus was a practicing CPA in public accounting for 10 years. He is a graduate of the inaugural class of the Executive Leadership Program, a leadership development program of the American Association of Health Plans.
